Dell is giving away 12 free laptops every day from July 27 to August 31 as part of their back-to-school 2006 instant win game. Worth a shot, methinks.
After playing a few times, I think I know why they can afford to do this: every time you play, they survey you with a computer-related question or two or three. If a lot of people play, I can imagine this data being quite valuable to them! But personally I don’t really care if Dell knows what types of computer equipment I purchased in the past year; but some people might.
I’ll let you know if I win anything.
I just wanted to let Dell company know that this is a considerate act that you all are doing, because in this time and age everyone know’s how expensive school can be. I just would want to make a comment that maybe there should be some sort of requirements or guide lines made for those that are really in need of these great opportunity.
I want to thank dell for the great opportunity it is providing students by giving away laptop computers. I am a High School Jr and I have worked on computer’s at school but have never had the opportunity to own my own nor can my parents afford one. I would feel very greatful and fortunate if I was selected to win a home computer for I need it desperately for school and also for creating music and poetry which are my hobbies. Sincerely… CJ Martinez

hi,
my name is okesola temitope gabriel a stundent in a university.pls i need this laptop some bad.
Thanks.
Um… perhaps I need to make a few things clear here: I do *not* work for Dell. I have no control over who wins Dell’s promotions (nobody does, as a matter of fact… at least legally). Just because I write a blog post about a sweepstakes doesn’t mean I can control its outcome. Furthermore, if you read the post carefully, you’ll see that this particular contest ended August 2006.
I had indeed found it rather humorous that high schoolers and university students had been begging me, a high schooler, for free laptops. However, now that a good number of people have decided that this is the place to beg for a PC, I have decided to post this little clarification. If you want to post your pleas here, feel free to do so, but don’t expect a computer to show up at your door the next day.
i need a laptop so bad 4 school work and essays…….i hope i win!!!!!
I actually won a laptop from this promotion. It was so random too. I was so happy & surprised because I had been wanting to get a laptop for a while but just couldn’t afford it. During my first 2 years of college, I always had to carry my bulky PC up countless flights of stairs to my dormroom. Thank God I won because now I don’t have to go through so much trouble. It would be great if Dell ran this contest again this year. It’s a great opportunity for those who can’t really afford a new computer & I know a lot of other students who would absolutely LOVE to win. Who wouldn’t?
Dear Dell,
I am curently starting collage at ITT Tech and I am haveing trouble with the tuition let alone trying to get a laptop which I need for my coarse of study which is computer electronics and engeneering technology (CEET). If there is anything you guys can do for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Tom Horton
