WordPress Tweaks 1.0

Version 1.0 of the WordPress Tweaks plugin has been released!

With this update, the version number has been moved from 0.1.2 to 1.0. This does not indicate a major update, but rather is a reflection that the plugin is tested and stable.

The 1.0 version focuses on WordPress 2.5 compatibility. The plugin should now work with the plugin auto-updater in WordPress 2.5. In addition, the WordPress 2.3-specific tweaks are now clearly marked as such.

Of course, please let me know if you run into any bugs.

Cool New Photoblogging Theme: “Monotone”

If you’re into photoblogging, check this out:

When you have the Monotone theme set up on your blog, it will take the first photo attached to each post and place that image prominently at the top, with the post text and comments below.

Simple enough. But what’s unique about this theme is that for each post page, Monotone changes the colors on the page to match the colors in the photo! A very cool method for creating an eye-pleasing visual atmosphere for your photoblog.

Check out the Monotone demo to see it for yourself.

The theme isn’t yet available for download, but should be in a few days.

WordPress 2.5.1 Security Release

WordPress 2.5.1 has just been released. According to the development blog:

It includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix. We recommend everyone update immediately, particularly if your blog has open registration. The vulnerability is not public but it will be shortly.

Download it now

The question I have is: does this mean 2.3.3 is no longer safe?

In this post I’ll review the Contact Form ][ plugin that I use on WordPress Expert at the time of this writing. (And yes, the plugin's name has two square brackets ][ instead of two letter I's).

Here's an overview of the plugin's pros and cons:
