It's kind of interesting to see that when I delete Spam comments or trash comments in bulk, the overhead suddenly increases in the wp-comments table where it should have been the opposite way. Thank you. This was just the info I needed. The 2nd method was so easy. I would suggest one edit to your instructions for Step 4. I had a devil of a time locating the “Optimize Table” link. Had to click "Details" link below the table, and found the "Optimize Table" link at the bottom of the Space usage info. Whew! OMG! Thank you. This was just the info I needed.
