You do have some good points, Paul. But features like the facial proximity sensor seem more like bells and whistles when compared to some of the omitted features listed in the post.

You did, John, forget to mention the 200+ patents that Apple placed on the iPhone’s technology… and surely, you could have mentioned the adaptive typing algorithms, or the facial proximity sensor, or the full-strength web browser (features I have yet to see in other phones)… and you seem to have misplaced the credit for Apple’s marketing campaign: the product really sold itself.

Yeah, I’ve been holding off on an iPod purchase for quite a while for that very reason!

What I am waiting for is the advances in the iPhone coming to a new iPod. From reports the iPhone is the best iPod ever as far a interface goes. Though I would definitely want a hardrive based player to hold my music collection.
